How ManageEngine Came to Mauritius
When I look back at the early days of my career, I can still picture myself as a young network and system engineer. My daily responsibility was to ensure everything ran smoothly: ISP routers, switches, servers, mail servers, and even the voice systems used for long-distance calls. It was a demanding role, and one thing was clear — there were very few tools available to help manage and monitor all these systems.
I remember spending hours searching the internet for anything that could make my work easier. I tried different solutions, and as a customer, I got my first taste of what good monitoring tools could do. However, in Mauritius, these products were difficult to find, and the concept of centralised monitoring was still relatively new.
Years later, when I founded Net2Be, I carried that memory with me. I asked myself: What tools did I need back then but couldn’t find locally? That question led me to a company then called AdventNet — a small but promising player with just a handful of products.
At the time, their flagship solution was ManageEngine OpManager, supported by add-on modules like the Exchange Monitor, Active Directory Monitor, MS-SQL database back-end, and even an SMS plugin for GSM modems. Alongside these, AdventNet also offered SecureCentral PatchQuest for patch management and Zoho VirtualOffice, an early collaboration and email suite. It was with this compact but innovative portfolio that we began our partnership.
In fact, our partnership dates back to 2006. I still have the original email from their team welcoming us into their Partner Central Program. It was a time when AdventNet was just starting to seek international partners. They offered a “low cost, high performance value proposition” and were confident about their aggressive plans to expand. For us, it was the right solution at the right time. We were just three employees then, operating out of Pointe aux Sables, but we were determined to introduce cutting-edge monitoring software to Mauritius.
Flashback to 2006 – The First Email
From AdventNet to Net2Be
“Thank you for your interest in AdventNet and your desire for a partnership between us. AdventNet offers a low cost, high performance value proposition in its Enterprise products. With such a wide number of products to offer, both of us are positioned for a Win-Win situation. AdventNet looks forward to a strategic partnership with you.”
— Shan, AdventNet (10 July 2006)
This was the very first confirmation of our partnership with AdventNet (now ManageEngine), marking the beginning of a journey that would bring world-class IT management tools to Mauritius. At the same time, we launched our own solution called Total Network Control, aimed at giving companies the ability to monitor and manage their entire network infrastructure. It was a fresh, forward-looking concept for Mauritius in the early 2010s, and AdventNet’s tools fitted perfectly into that vision.
The Journey Continues
From that first email in 2006 to today, the story has never stopped. We have been representing AdventNet, which later became ManageEngine, from the very beginning. What started with a handful of products, including OpManager, Exchange Monitor, and Zoho VirtualOffice, has now grown into a comprehensive ecosystem. Today, alongside ManageEngine, we also offer their extensive portfolio, which includes Zoho, a global leader in business applications.
For the past 19 years, we have stood as their prime partner in Mauritius — and today, we are proud to serve as their exclusive distributor in the country. On 27 October, we will be celebrating 20 years of partnership — a milestone that marks not only longevity but also growth, trust, and a shared vision.
Our relationship is not just on paper. We have been visiting them in India twice yearly to strengthen the partnership, exchange ideas, and plan. In turn, the ManageEngine team has frequently visited us here in Mauritius, participating in events and engaging directly with our customers and partners.
Looking back, it is humbling to see how a small step in 2006 has grown into a long-standing partnership that continues to bring value to businesses across Mauritius and beyond. The journey is still unfolding, and we remain committed to carrying it forward.
From those first steps, Net2Be introduced AdventNet — later renamed ManageEngine — to the Mauritian market. Nobody else was doing it at the time. We presented the value, demonstrated the capabilities, and educated businesses on why monitoring and management were essential for their IT operations.
Of course, some companies later chose to buy directly online once the products became more widely available. But the groundwork was already done — the name, the trust, the value of the product had already been established through our efforts.
So, if you ask how ManageEngine came to Mauritius, the answer is simple: Net2Be brought it here. We pioneered it, represented it, and carried it forward when no one else did. And today, looking at how the brand has grown globally and locally, I am proud of the role we played in that story.
